  • Glipizide (trade names include Glucotrol, Glibenese, Glibetic, Glucotrol XL, Glynase, Mindiab, Minidiab) is an oral rapid- and short-acting antidiabetic medication from sulfonylureas pharmacological group. This medicine is used for treating type 2 diabetes in patients who cannot control blood sugar levels only by diet and exercises. It works by causing the pancreas to release insulin, which helps to lower blood sugar and helps your body to use insulin better. Glipizide is used alone or in combined therapy with other antidiabetic drugs, a diabetic diet and exercises.
