Mebendazole (trade names include Vermox, Dazomet, D-Worm, Exbenzol, Fugacar, Lomper, Mebex, Mebutar, Nemasole, Neo Mebend, Ovex, Ovex Family Pack, Pantelmin, Pripsen Tablets, Revapol, Vermox Forte) is a highly effective, broad-spectrum oral anthelmintic (antiparasitic, anti-worm) medication from benzimidazole derivatives pharmacological group. This medicine is used for the treatment of nematode, trichinosis infestations, parasitic (worm) infections from roundworms, hookworms, pinworms, threadworm, whipworms, or infections with two or more of these worms. These infections include ascariasis, pinworm disease, guinea worm infections, hookworm infections, giardia, cystic echinococcosis, hydatid disease. Mebendazole works by preventing the worm from absorbing essential sugars needed for survival. This leads to the eventual death of the parasite within a few days.
