  • Atazanavir (trade names include Reyataz, Atavir, Atazor) is an antiviral medication for systemic use from protease inhibitors pharmacological group. This medicine is used for the treatment of HIV/AIDS and for nonoccupational exposure (post-exposure prophylaxis, a preventive medical treatment after a needlestick injury or other potential exposure). It is often indicated in combination with other antiretroviral drugs to treat HIV infection. It works by inhibiting active site of viral protease.
