This medicine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), to reduce swelling (edema) and fluid retention caused by various medical conditions, such as congestive heart failure, other heart, liver, or kidney diseases. Indapamide works by causing the kidneys to eliminate large amounts of water and salts and increasing urine output (diuresis).
