  • Amiloride with Hydrochlorothiazide (trade names include Moduretic, Ameride, Amilorid Comp, Amiloride HCTZ, Amizide, Aquaretic, Co-Amilozide, Comilorid, Diurex A, Kaluril, Moduret, Moduretik, Normorix, Novamilor, Rhefluin) is a combined medication containing low-ceiling diuretic ("water pill") Hydrochlorothiazide from thiazides pharmacological group and potassium-sparing agent Amiloride. This medicine is used for treating high blood pressure (hypertension, HBP) and congestive heart failure. It is also reduces the swelling and water retention caused by various medical conditions, such as heart, liver, or kidney disease. Hydrochlorothiazide works by making the kidneys eliminate sodium (salt) and water from the body, which helps to lower blood pressure and / or edema. Amiloride helps to minimize potassium loss. This medication may be used alone or with other drugs.
