Prochlorperazine (trade names include Compazine, Prochlor, Buccastem, DHAperazine, Emidoxyn, Stemzine, Nautisol, Stemetil) is a medication for disorders of nervous system from phenothiazines with piperazine structure pharmacological group. This medication helps to control severe nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation therapy and in the pre- and postoperative setting. It is also used to treat migraine, labyrinthitis, dizziness, vertigo, schizophrenia and in the short-term treatment of anxiety. As an antipsychotic drug prochlorperazine works by blocking dopamine receptors.
