This medicine is used for the treatment of resistant schizophrenia (schizophrenia in patients who do not respond to other medicines), borderline personality disorder (emotionally unstable personality disorder), paranoid disorder, psychosis in Parkinson's disease, refractory bipolar disorder, for reducing the risk of recurrent suicidal behavior in patients with schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder. It works by affecting serotonin, dopamine, GABA receptors in the brain.
