Selegiline is an almost near-to-white crystalline powder that is round, convex, scored, and uncoated tablet. Eldepryl is freely soluble in water. Eldepryl is used to treat Parkinson's disease, a disease associated with low levels of dopamine in your brain. The question how really Selegiline works is not known but it is believed to prevent the breakdown of dopamine in your brain. After levedopa or carbidopa therapy begins to deteriorate, selegiline is usually added to a treatment regimen.
Why is Selegiline prescribed?
Eldepryl is mainly used to handle the stiffness, tremors, spasms, and poor muscle control of Parkinson's disease. It can be used as monotherapy in the early phases of the disease and as adjunctive therapy with levodopa. Eldepryl is also used to handle some muscular conditions that are caused by certain drugs such as Chlorpromazine (Thorazine), Fluphenazine (Prolixin), Perphenazine (Trilafon), and other more. Eldepryl can also be used to some purposes not stated here.
Dosage and administration
