This medicine is used for the treatment of viral infections, such as chronic hepatitis C, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), viral hemorrhagic fever infections (Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever, Lassa fever, Venezuelan hemorrhagic fever, Hantavirus infection), herpes simplex virus, rabies, canine distemper, cancers, acute myeloid leukemia, and related diseases. It works as guanosine (ribonucleic) analog and nucleoside inhibitor. Rebetol and Copegus stop viral RNA synthesis and viral replication.
