Tizanidine (trade names include Zanaflex, Sirdalud, Ternelin, Tizan, Tizanidin Teva, Tizanidine Arrow, Tizanor, Tizpa) is a short-acting muscle relaxer from centrally acting muscle relaxants pharmacological group. This medicine is used for the treatment of muscle spasms, cramping, tightness of muscles caused by some diseases and medical conditions, such as muscle spasticity, spastic diplegia, multiple sclerosis, spastic cerebral palsy, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), back pain, spinal cord injury, other injuries to the spine or CNS. It is also indicated to treat migraine headaches, cluster headaches, some symptoms of fibromyalgia, as an anticonvulsant, as a sleep aid medication. Tizanidine HCl works by blocking nerve impulses (pain sensations) that are sent to your brain.
