This medicine is indicated for the treatment of various skin infections like impetigo, acne vulgaris, infected eczema, infected wounds and cuts, for patients with prosthetic joint-related chronic osteomyelitis, in veterinary medicine. Fusidic Acid is also used in oral, injectable, ophthalmic pharmaceutical forms. The spectrum of activity includes Staphylococcus aureus, coagulase-positive staphylococci, beta-hemolytic streptococci, Corynebacterium species, Clostridium species, Mycobacterium leprae, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), Propionibacterium acnes. It works by killing microorganisms that have caused these infections.
