This medicine is used for the treatment of migraines with or without aura, cluster headaches, post-dural puncture headache. An aura is a strange feeling or visual disturbance that warns you of an attack. Thats why sumatriptan is also called as a "headache medicine". It works by activating vascular 5-HT1 receptors which mediates constriction of the blood vessels.
