Naltrexone (trade names include ReVia, Adepend, Antaxone, Depade, Nalcon, Nalerona, Nalorex, Naltima, Naltrexon, Naltrust, Nemexin, Nodict, Trexan, Vivitrol) is an anti alcohol and opioid medication from drugs used in addictive disorders pharmacological group. This medicine is prescribed for the therapy of alcoholism, alcohol or opioid use disorder. It is also in research studies or off-label used for the treatment of dissociative symptoms (such as depersonalization and derealization of depersonalization-derealization disorder), behavioral disorders, gambling, kleptomania, trichotillomania, self-injurious behaviors, non-suicidal self-injury disorder, sexual addiction, in veterinary medicine. This drug works by reducing cravings and feelings of euphoria associated with substance use disorder.
Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) is indicated to treat and reduce pain, neurological symptoms, chronic pain disorders, myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, irritable bowel disease, autoimmune diseases, autoimmune thyroid disorders, cancers, Crohn's disease, chronic fatigue syndrome, Gulf War syndrome, long COVID, complex regional pain syndrome.
