  • Telmisartan (trade names include Micardis, Cresar, Eritel, Inditel, Kinzalmono, Pritor, Sandoz Telmisartan, Sartel, Semintra, Targit, Telmisartan Actavis, Tazloc, Telday, Teleact, Telista, Telma, Telmikind, Telmisartan Teva, Telpres, Telsite) is an antihypertensive drug from angiotensin II antagonists pharmacological group. This medication is used for the treatment and to control of high blood pressure (hypertension), heart failure, diabetic kidney disease. Telmisartan is also indicated to prevent cardiovascular disease, to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, or death from heart problems in people who are at least 55 years old with risk factors for serious heart disorders. Micardis is a once-daily medicine that works 24 hours a day. It can be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs. Telmisartan works by decreasing certain chemicals in the body that cause blood vessels to constrict (narrow).
