This medicine is used for the treatment of high blood pressure (hypertension), congestive heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction, atrial fibrillation, coronary heart disease, ischemic heart disease, angina pectoris (chest pain), acute cardiovascular toxicity with sympathomimetics; to reduce the risk of mortality and hospitalizations, to improve survival in people following a heart attack. It works by relaxing blood vessels, slowing down the heart, and decreasing the amount of blood it pumps out.
