Hydralazine (trade names include Apresoline, Apresol, Apresolina, Aprezine, Hydrapres, Hydrastat, Hylazine) is an antihypertensive drug from hydrazinophthalazine derivatives pharmacological group. This medicine is used for the treatment and to control of hypertension, heart failure, high blood pressure in pregnancy, essential hypertension, hypertensive emergency, malignant hypertension, very high blood pressure resulting in symptoms. It has also been studied to treat myelodysplastic syndrome. Hydralazine works as a direct-acting smooth muscle relaxant by causing arterial vasodilation.
