  • Captopril (trade names include Capoten, Captohexal, Dexacap, Epsitron, Kapril, Lopril, Rilcapton, Tensiomin) is a medication for cardiovascular system from angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors pharmacological group. This medicine is indicated for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure, HBP), hypertensive emergency, heart failure, congestive heart failure, left ventricular dysfunction, coronary heart disease, diabetic kidney disease, diabetic nephropathy, polycystic kidney disease, cystinuria; to improve survival after a heart attack, myocardial infarction; for migraine prevention. It works by relaxing blood vessels and having antihypertensive effect. Captopril may be used alone or in combination with diuretics and other medications.
