This medicine acts against fungal invasions just like a normal antibiotic would do against a bacterial infection. Griseofulvin is used to treat fungal infections of skin, hair, nails, scalp, such as dermatophytosis (ringworm), fingernail and toenail onychomycosis, tinea barbae, tinea capitis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea pedis; in veterinary medicine. It kills fungal microorganisms by blocking mitosis and some metabolic processes in fungal cell walls.
