This medicine is used to treat various bacterial infections, including eye, ear, prostate, bladder, urinary tract, kidney, gynecological infections, epididymitis, cystitis, gastroenteritis, traveler's diarrhea, shigellosis, prostatitis, conjunctivitis, otitis, typhoid fever, paratyphoid fever, some sexually transmitted diseases such as syphilis, urethral and cervical gonorrhea, for prevention of spontaneous bacterial peritonitis, in veterinary medicine. Norfloxacin works by killing sensitive bacteria.
